Alaska Correlations

The Alaska State Content Standards correlated to:
Project WILD
Project Learning Tree
The Alaska Wildlife Curriculum

[ASCS]

Welcome!
We are pleased to present Alaska Correlations. In keeping with national education reform efforts to enhance quality education for all students, Project WILD, Project Learning Tree and the Alaska Wildlife Curriculum created this guide correlating our three programs to the Alaska State Content Standards.

We realize that a common concern among educators is how to fit another element into an already full day. We hope that Alaska Correlations will make your job easier by providing a tool to identify activities in each of our three programs that will help you meet state educational standards.

Project WILD and Project Learning Tree
These conservation education programs offer training, background and activity guides to teachers through educator workshops, offered in your community.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game sponsors Project WILD and the Alaska Department of Natural Resources sponsors Project Learning Tree.

If you are interested in a workshop, you or your school administrator can contact us to schedule a workshop in your community.

Alaska Wildlife Curriculum
The Alaska Wildlife Curriculum was revised in 1999. This guide reflects the revised edition. The Alaska Wildlife Curriculum consists of the following components:

Alaska's Forests and Wildlife
Alaska's Tundra and Wildlife
Alaska's Ecology
Wildlife for the Future
Alaska Ecology Cards

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game created these materials in cooperation with the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Department of Natural Resources, the Alaska Natural Resource and Outdoor Education Association and teachers like you.

Books may be purchased individually. A complete set of the Alaska Wildlife Curriculum is also available on CD-ROM. The Alaska Wildlife Curriculum is available through workshops designed to meet the needs of your school, community and ecosystem.

For information on workshops and materials, contact Kristen Romanoff at the number above.

 Dedication
The Alaska Correlations Guide is dedicated to the teachers of Alaska for all you do! Creating educational opportunities for students that integrate the natural world with the classroom puts education into the context of their lives. We hope this guide helps you mesh that space between your classroom and the natural world. Thank you!
